If you are a Today Show fan, as I am, you have been watching several couples vie for the opportunity to have the Today Show plan and execute their wedding. They start out with four or five couples who compete in various goofy contests until only one couple is left standing. That couple then lets the American public plan every detail of their wedding. They end up with a beautiful wedding, but they have absolutely no say about any of it. I don’t know about you, but that is the ultimate in flexibility! They have a beautiful wedding and reception followed by a great honeymoon, all the while remaining completely silent about their own wishes. Great deal for those who can remain flexible.
So how flexible are you? Could you let someone else plan something as important as your wedding? Do you consider yourself a flexible person? I really believe that learning to be more flexible in life can actually reduce your stress levels and can also be very rewarding. Our couple on the Today Show had the wedding of their dreams for free, definitely rewarding!
Flexibility can make you more fun to hang out with, increase the number of friends you have and give your life a new dimension of interest. Let’s face it, not one of us owns all the good idea, so if we are flexible enough to let others take some control, we can have the pleasure of doing some really fun and interesting activities that we might never have thought to do ourselves.
Flexibility can serve you well at work too. Learning to be flexible and work well with all kinds of people and projects can get you noticed as someone who can get things done. Flexible people are an asset to any organization.
As a business owner, flexibility is really important as well. There is nothing more challenging than being responsible for a business and for the livelihood of other people. When success is on your shoulders, those shoulders need to be flexible. Being able to understand what is going on in your industry and keeping your company, small business, sales career or direct sales company agile, takes someone who is flexible and willing to make changes whenever necessary. Adjusting to the mood of a buying public takes someone who is willing to abandon old ideas and embrace change and progress.
So think about it, what is your level of flexibility. Do you need to sit in the same spot every night for dinner? Do you go to the same place for lunch every day? Do you always have to drive? Does everyone have to go to your movie, restaurant, coffee shop choice? To reduce your stress and increase your enjoyment of life, you may want to let go of a few of these areas. Learn to let others in the drivers seat of life. Being flexible is not only important when it comes to your body, having a flexible mind set can also increase your health. So get out there, do something someone else thought to do. Go ahead, you can do it! Stretch!
